Welcome to the Living to Thrive with Cancer Podcast. I'm Kathryn White, Cancer Coach and Author of Living to Thrive, a holistic guide to living with cancer. This is the place where we trade fear for hope, confusion for clarity, and overwhelm for empowered action. Whether you are newly diagnosed, living with cancer, or navigating life beyond it, I'll share tools, insights, and real life inspiration to help you create a life that feels good to live right now in the middle of it all. Let's thrive together. Welcome back to the Living to Thrive with Cancer Podcast. I am Catherine White, Stage 4 Colon Cancer Thriver, your cancer coach and the author of Living to Thrive, a holistic guide to living with cancer. Before we begin today, I want to share something really important with you. After much reflection, I have decided that this will be the last episode of the Living to Thrive with Cancer podcast. Not the final season, not a break, not a pause. This is the closing chapter in the podcast version of Living to Thrive with Cancer. And honestly, I'm sitting here recording these words, feeling a little bit emotional, because this podcast has been such a meaningful part of the last five years of my life. And I hope that it has been meaningful for you as well. Over the years, we have had conversations around fear, healing, fatigue, survivorship, movement, emotional health, self-advocacy, uncertainty, rebuilding after treatment, and learning how to create a life that is still meaningful even when you have cancer. And through all of those conversations, there's always been one message at the heart of it all. You are more than your diagnosis. You are not only here to survive. You are allowed to create a life that feels meaningful, purposeful, connected, joyful, and deeply worth living. So today I want this episode to feel less like an ending and more like a conversation between us, a reflection, a reminder, and hopefully a powerful next step forward for you. One of the biggest things that cancer teaches us is how to survive. You learn how to endure, how to compartmentalize, how to push through, how to wait for results, and how to function while carrying fear in the background, in that backpack that you carry throughout your life. In the beginning, survival mode feels like a purpose. It helps you to get through the appointments, the treatment, the uncertainty, those really challenging days. But what I've learned, both personally and through working with so many people who are living with a cancer diagnosis, is that many people stay stuck there long after the treatment ends, still waiting, still afraid, still disconnected from themselves, and still believing that life is on hold, waiting until they finally feel safe again. And that's why when you have cancer, your mindset matters so much. Not because positive thinking cures cancer, not because you should pretend that things are easy, not because difficult emotions are bad, but because the way you think about yourself shapes everything about the way you experience your life right now and moving forward. If every day begins with thoughts like, I'll never feel like myself again, or I can't trust my body, or my life is ruined, or I'm just surviving, your nervous system, your choices, your confidence, and your future all begin to be filtered by fear. But something begins to change when you start to ask different questions. What if I supported myself instead of criticizing myself? What if I stopped waiting for life to begin again? What if healing could also include joy? What if I'm still capable of building a meaningful life? That shift matters. And it is often the beginning of building that bridge from just surviving to thriving in your life. When I first created this podcast, I wanted to create a space that I wish that I had had when I was initially diagnosed and going through treatment and going through my recovery process. A space where people could hear honest conversations, a space where fear wasn't ignored, a space where survivorship wasn't romanticized as something that may or may not happen and be glorious when it does. A space where people like you could be seen because we know that cancer changes everything. It changes your body, it changes your relationships, it changes your plans, it changes your identity, it changes your confidence, and it changes your sense of safety both in yourself and in the world around you. And if we're going to be honest, for many people, one of the hardest parts actually isn't the treatment itself. It's figuring out who you are afterward when everything that you have known has changed completely in your life. You may still be you, but now it's like this different version of you. And you need to figure out what that means and what that looks like. And that's where this podcast became a place where we could talk about this openly, where I shared some of my very personal moments with you, knowing that hearing that might help you to find a space for your own healing and growth into thriving. Just in this season alone, we explored topics like cancer fatigue, rebuilding strength through movement, emotional healing, self-advocacy, survivorship challenges, fear of recurrence, uncertainty, mindset shifts, and learning how to reconnect with yourself again. And if there's one thing that I hope these episodes helped you to understand, it's this healing is not only physical, healing is also emotional, mental, behavioral, and relational. Healing is learning to speak to yourself differently. Speaking to yourself like you would speak to your best friend. It's learning how to support yourself instead of giving up on yourself or abandoning yourself. It's learning how to believe that there is still life right now and ahead of you. I want to be honest with you about why I've decided to close this chapter. Over time, my work has evolved, my life has evolved, and I've realized that I want to spend more time creating educational and supportive video content that people can visually engage with, revisit easily, and share with others who are navigating cancer and survivorship. So while this podcast is ending, I'm not disappearing. In fact, I'm continuing to work in a new way that I've already started and that you might have already visited. Moving forward, I'm going to be focusing on creating more content on my YouTube channel where I'll be sharing educational and informational videos about the things that matter to you: survivorship, mindset, emotional healing, cancer recovery, fatigue and energy, rebuilding confidence, movement and lifestyle habits, navigating fear and uncertainty, and creating a life that still feels meaningful after the diagnosis. These are the topics that I know are important to you. And what I want to do is take them into a different space where we can have these face-to-face conversations on YouTube and where I can share with you in a shorter, more compact, and more impactful way. So if this podcast has supported you, I would love for you to stay with me as I just move into a different space. Find my YouTube channel, Catherine White Cancer Coach, and subscribe and like so that you can have access to the videos. And when you join my email list, you will get notifications that a new video is up and the link to watch it. So subscribe to the channel, watch the videos, please leave comments. I love to engage with you. I am always going to respond. And please continue to be part of this community. You can join the email list below. You can follow me on Instagram. And again, you can head over to my YouTube channel where we can interact in a different way. Because even though the format is changing, the mission is still the same, helping you and others to move from surviving to thriving. And if you're realizing that this is the moment where you feel like you need more support in your life, I am here for you. The Cancer Thriver Pathway program is now available to you. It is a one-time payment for forever access, and it includes a group coaching component where we show up together on calls and talk about the things that matter the most to you. This is me helping you to learn more and in that space move from just surviving over to thriving. Because thriving isn't something that magically happens. It requires some work. And so I have laid out the pathway for you to follow step by step through handouts and worksheets and videos and the interactive group coaching to move you out of that surviving space into creating your Cancer Thriver pathway. You can also find support in my book, Living to Thrive, a holistic guide to living with cancer, and the guided journal that I have created. It's available on Amazon. It's called My Cancer Pathway. It's a daily guided journal for you to move yourself day to day through how you're thinking, how you're feeling, and into that space of thriving. And of course, if you're looking for a little bit more and you want to go a little bit deeper, I am always, always open to having you as a private client in personalized one-to-one coaching. This is where we work together on the goals that you create to move you along in your cancer process. Having a one-on-one coach who has experience is going to help you as you navigate the questions and the thoughts and the concerns and all of the things that come up in this crazy world of cancer. Because really, sometimes what you need is someone to guide you, someone to listen, someone to help you to untangle your fear, and someone to remind you that you are still here and you are still capable of so much. And you can find the links for all of these things that I've talked about in the show notes. And friends, as I close this final episode, I want to leave you with this. Cancer may have changed your life, but it doesn't get to decide the meaning of your life. You still get to choose who you become from here. You still get to choose how you care for yourself, how you speak to yourself, how you support yourself, how you move forward. And no, you don't have to have everything figured out today. You just need to keep taking the next step. One breath, one choice, one moment at a time. Because every time you choose hope, every time you advocate for yourself, every time you rest instead of pushing yourself into exhaustion, every time you move your body, every time you challenge that fearful thought, and every time you allow yourself to believe that there is still joy ahead, you are already moving beyond survival. You are already rebuilding. You are already becoming.
